May Project Update: We are Content Complete!

Hey Backers,

CONTENT COMPLETE

Our writing team created over 3,000 different variations of monster descriptions, 880 of which we have approved with flying colors and therefore for production. However, some of the best descriptions are longer than others. This may be a problem for physical cards, but not for the digital products. Therefore, we will be doing another round of selection to ensure only the cream of the crop gets printed. At the same time, we did not want to shortchange you guys on the creative efforts because of trivial physical limitations. Therefore, we have also decided that all 880 descriptions will be published on the Digital products (i.e., API, app, and writer's grid). The physical cards are my favorite, but there is an advantage to digital. With the bulk of the writing work completed, we are now moving on to the project's subsequent two phases. Below is a quick breakdown of the timeline.

TIMELINE

June: PRINTING AND MANUFACTURING

In the month of June, we'll be creating thousands of Combat Description cards, thousands of Magic Description cards, thousands of Storyteller Deck cards, and multiple thousands of the much-anticipated Monster Description cards.

For those of you organized folks - good news! In June, we are also producing more of the following accessories to fill the pre-orders: Malaysian Folklore Deckboxes (a few hundred), Dividers (a few thousand), and Card Sleeves (about a thousand). 

All the better to protect your newly ordered cards and keep them “lookin' fresh" for as long as possible. You can always add to your order via backer kit if you want these.

July: FREIGHT AND SHIPPING OF ORDERS

'Tis the moment you've all been waiting for (kinda). The big news is that we will be shipping your cards directly from China. This is a massive change to our distribution plans, and it should positively affect shipping times for most of you. We are working with a well-known freight and distribution company. They will be responsible for wrapping your goods, boxing your goods, and send out freight per country. Your local carriers will handle the last mile of shipping (Fed-Ex, UPS, USPS, etc.). This company will also be arranging and managing the last mile. This is a big operation and Mark Scott will still be at the center of it all, being accountable. This will all start in early July (woot!)!  How long it will take depends on your location, and we will be able to help you better understand that as we approach that month. Although, the total shipping times will be measured in weeks, not months.

August: DIGITAL PRODUCT IMPROVEMENTS

After we hear from you and prioritize the work early June, we will get started on programming all of the  digital product improvements in late June. We will be able to roll out some user testing in August. However, a lot more to come on that.

LOCKING IN SHIPPING ADDRESS

Do make sure to update and confirm your shipping details by June 29th, as we'll be locking them in around that time. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on shipping details.

NEXT UPDATE: DIGITAL PRODUCT FEEDBACK

As you might know, we have several digital storytelling tools available via conflictgames.com. Still, we want to ensure that these are or have been helpful for your campaigns and address as many bugs, break fixes, and improvement as we can afford.  Thus, in our next update, we'll be calling for feedback from all of you on the following two products:

1. Storyteller Deck app

2. Writers or GM Grid

You can start collecting your comments and be ready with them for the next project update next week(ish). However, we will not be asking our programmers to look at this update, so please save them for the next project update.

A Project Update

Hey Backer Family,

I wanted to provide an update on our schedule.  As you would imagine, there's good news and bad news. The bad news is the project is delayed by about three months. The reason why it is delayed is the good news. We are still writing and editing the Monster Description Cards content.  This part of the process should have been completed about 30-40 days ago. However, I have been extraordinarily particular about the descriptions that make the final cut. In my mind, they must be good —all of them.  For that reason, our writing room has created a ton of descriptions, and to guarantee high-quality creativity, we also have many rejections, edits, and rewrites. Each of these steps has gone slower than I anticipated.  I may add writers to the project, but I believe the best solution to the delay is to simply keep writing. There is no substitute for hard work, so work hard we shall.

Collaboration:

I would say that we are currently at the halfway point, and it might be the perfect time to include those of you who wish to contribute. I thought it was wise to wait until we get to the halfway point to include the backers in our writing journey. This is because it's only now that we're crystal clear on what we need in a Monster Description. It is far more complicated than you would expect. In the next update, I will explore the idea of collaborating with all of you, write out the rules, and provide some examples of good and bad descriptions.

OK, I'm going to keep this update short and allow you to process the delay—not to mention, I have a writers' meeting shortly.  Next week, I will allocate the time needed to work with a few of you and have the aforementioned collaboration Kickstarter update to share.

Make sure that you have the correct card information on file. If any issues arise with your payment you’ll receive an email letting your know to correct your payment information.

Last call for order updates!

Last call for order updates!

The last day to make final updates to your order is tomorrow, 02/11/2021. After this date, we will lock your reward selections and charge cards for add-on item purchases, pledge upgrades, and pre-orders. You can update your shipping address up until we lock addresses for shipping.  We will not be locking address for a few months. However,  we are locking orders and charging credit cards a little bit earlier than normal. This is because we've received thousands of new orders post Kickstarter campaign and need to secure the capital in order to commit to the manufacturing.

If you haven’t answered your survey yet, if you fill out your BackerKit survey or pay for extra shipping after the 02/11/2021 order due date, we’ll still receive your information but your shipment may be delayed.

Clarification On the Digital Downloads Update

We are still writing the Monster Description Cards. 

We are still writing the Monster Description Cards. Therefore, the Monster description cards pdf or the Monster Description Cards app deck are not ready. This includes the stretch goals under the Monster Description Cards campaign. Again, the writing team and I are still working on these items, and thus they are not ready for download. 

There are over 13 other digital download files now available that were part of this campaign. These downloads are what the previous update was referring to, as they are all ready to go.   You will find them under your backerkit survey.
